Mind, Body and Fuel – How Tamika Harden Survived COVID-19

As a COVID-19 survivor, mother and entrepreneur, Tamika Harden is sharing how she recovered from COVID-19. Openly accrediting her recovery to the condition of her body, prior to the virus, while emphasizing the importance of wellness and maintaining an active lifestyle.

For the past fifteen years I’ve led a healthy lifestyle. A lifestyle of positive mental and physical health, including physical movement and balanced nutrition. COVID-19 knocks your body down. The stronger your immune defense the better chance you have at fighting COVID-19. COVID-19 is a respiratory virus. Working out regularly naturally improves your respiratory functions.

Cardiorespiratory Exercises

Staying active is an important aspect of maintaining overall health and wellness. Tamika likes to keep her heart healthy by participating in activities such as running, power walking , cardio kickboxing and dance aerobics.

Balanced Nutrition

“A healthy body fights infections, heals wounds, repairs damage and fights invasion. Maintaining and restoring health so your body can effectively utilize the healing process, requires a bit more than visiting the doctor regularly. It requires proper nutrition and physical movement”, stated Harden. “My diet includes vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and non dairy products. I only eat fish and I limit saturated, trans fats, sodium, and added sugars. You are what you eat!”, continued Tamika.

Mental Health

“Mental and physical fitness allows the body to fight harder against a virus such as COVID-19. To take care of my mental health, I focus on self-care and goal attainment. I set out time daily to take
care of me, including activities such as meditation, body movement and proper nutrition”, stated Tamika.

Living To See Another Day

Like many families, Tamika and her family have been directly affected by COVID-19. Although her health, finances and business have taken a direct blow, Harden saw the light at the end of the tunnel. “Even on my hardest days I knew I had to wipe my tears and fight”, stated Harden.

My life and my children lives were spared. We were safe. We had made it through the infectious state of COVID-19, alive, and for this I am extremely grateful. Financial gains can come and go, but you only get one life. I feel as if I’ve survived COVID-19 because I am here to help people, and and now more than ever, I want to do everything in my power to fulfill my purpose.
