Listen To Mommy – Not One Body Bad

Body positive rapper, Mona Hayder, dropped a body positive song that is going to be on my playlist for quite some time. As a muslim rapper, Mona often uses music to bring very serious issues to light. (Can we just stop for a minute and say yes!!) Using her wit and clever lyrics, Mona shines light on topics such as wearing hijabs, stereotypes, body positivity, acceptance and more.

Did you know that Syrians didn’t speak Arabic originally and that we come from a tribal culture with many various different ethnicities, languages, cultural traditions and norms, much of which was lost during various colonial occupations. Palestine, Syria and Lebanon share very similar cultural practices because the borders drawn around our lands are modern colonial borders installed by colonial powers, namely England. What is going on in Palestine isn’t new— it’s a perpetuation of neo-colonial violence in conjunction with underhanded under the table deals with countries like KSA and others in order to maintain control of the region and its resources, namely oil and fresh water. Always follow the money habibis. 📸 &🎨 & 👘 @fedaeid

No. It’s Not Fair

“You have no right to this body or hair”, are a few of the lyrics to this catchy song, Not only are the lyrics packed with meaning, the beat is full of bass and a melody that lifts the spirits.

Don’t Take Our Word For It!

Below are a few comments from her adoring fan on YouTube.
