Q & A Time

Q: What are three reasons you decided to enter the spa industry?

A: I needed a career change. It was the only program where you could have your own business the day of graduation. I was looking for freedom.

Q: Did you find any shocking news once you started your journey to becoming an entrepreneur, particularly in the spa business?

A: The blood sweat and tears was real. The long nights early mornings. The going broke to follow your dreams. I was shocked at all the men who want happy endings and don’t respect real licensed massage therapist.

Q: What were three major milestones you had to overcome to get your spa business started?

A: Walking to school every day and transitioning to working night time which caused me to take a 50% pay cut. Moving to Atlanta losing everything I had to follow my dreams of being a celebrity spa in Atlanta. Getting my massage license. I failed my test the first time by five points because I didn’t study at all.

Q: Why do you think there are not more women in the spa business?

A: It’s very expensive and takes a lot of time in school. The competition with big companies discourages a lot of women spa owners. They think they can’t stay in business because of competition.

Q: What are some of the things that keep you motivated to push forward with your business?

A; My entire life is dedicated to my kids and mu business. This is my life work. I finally have real freedom. My kids live an amazing life. I will always push forward with my business. It’s my pleasure to heal the world via massage therapy and help other women open/operate independently.

Q: Where do you see your business in 5 years?

A: In 5 years I want my Black Spa expo to be international. I want 1000 more members in my spa boss tribe. I want to help 5000 women over the next 5 years to open spas.

Q: Do you have any aspects of your spa business that are different from other spas?

A: We specialize in spa parties. Groups at one time getting spa services.
