Cobblestone streets
Many European cities have cobblestone streets that can be difficult to navigate with a suitcase on wheels. You might find yourself struggling to drag your suitcase along, or even damaging the wheels or the case itself.
Public transportation
If you plan on using public transportation to get around, you’ll quickly realize that most trains, buses, and trams in Europe have limited space for luggage. Carrying a large suitcase with you might result in you being denied entry or having to pay extra fees.
Stairs
Many European buildings, especially older ones, don’t have elevators. This means you’ll have to carry your suitcase up several flights of stairs, which can be exhausting and frustrating.
So, what should you do instead?
Consider taking a backpack or a smaller, soft-sided bag that can be easily carried on your back or shoulder. This will make navigating cobblestone streets and stairs much easier, and you won’t have to worry about finding storage space on public transportation.
