Black Creatives You Should Get To Know

Support is one of the best things you can do for a brand, artist or creative. Rather it means sharing on social media, telling a friend or making a purchase, your support goes a long way. Afterall, without the support of others, things tend to stop. Movements die, art is not made, music can’t be funded, businesses can’t grow… you get the message. So, you have to understand how refreshing it was to see a post made by Thelifeofronny on Instagram. She took the time to bring awareness to a few amazing creatives, we decided to spread the word. Check it out!

Dear NYC, I miss you. 🚕❤️ I miss spending my weekends at brunch with friends and exploring new exhibits. Those weekend adventures kept me moving and inspired 24/7. But, although the days blend together now and we’re still on lockdown, it’s important to remember to still take days off here and there to recuperate. I successfully spent half of my long weekend playing video games, watching the complete fourth season of Riverdale, and not really checking my phone! 🙌🏽 I would highly recommend taking a few days a month where you don’t really check social media or stress about work and chores. I 100% needed it and I didn’t even realize how brunt out I was feeling. Yes, even while being inside all the time you can still feel drained and exhausted. In fact, you might even be feeling that more so. Always make time to breath! Trust me, I’m working on this too lol. + #kotd: Ozweego Adidas have a bit of a ‘90s dad sneaker vibe. These have become one of my favorite Adidas sneakers because they’re just so dang comfy and versatile! 👟

Sometimes I feel heavy. Like the literal weight of the world is on my shoulders. I felt so inspired while watching @michelleobama on Netflix. At the same time, I also feel so sad. Like @daniebb3 describes in her beautiful song, “Black Woman” I am a BLACK Woman. I fear for the men I love and cherish in my family. My BLACK men. My dad, my son, my nephew, my cousin. Smart, intelligent, strong, loving, caring PEOPLE. Why?!?! Why does our skin trigger fear, why does I presence ignite hate? #ahmaudarbery is dead. Killed as self-defense? I am asking everyone to look within and start reflecting on where your bias, stereotypes and FEARs stem from. Is it a place of ignorance, being misinformed, privilege, or hate? I also ask that you not read this post through a lens of judgment, while being offended or while pointing a finger. Try reading this post from a place of love and understand, sprinkled with compassion.

Hey Guys! How’s your day going?! 🤔 . . . Mine was pretty crappy….and not because of work or my business or my family (which can occasionally drive me nuts)! . . . But honestly, just cause…And because I needed some happiness, Mom & I stopped @fiveguys to celebrate #nationalburgerday 😋 and it was perfection 😍 It was just what I needed! The indulgence wasn’t a cure to my blues….but it’s a damn good start! Happy #nationalburgerday folks 💁🏽‍♀️ What did you do today to make you happy?! #blackfoodie #blackgirlswhoblog #blackdcfoodbloggers #brownfoodiefriends #wearybuthappy #wewillpersevere #blacklivesmatter #happinessisachoice #biteintoit #dcfoodie #dmvfoodiecrew #eatingwithkrissy

“Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most…” ✨ . . ➕Moment of truth – Mornings are not my jam. Like, once I’m up and moving it’s all good, but it’s getting to that point that I struggle. Or at least I used to. . . 💡 But since being in quarantine, I’ve started being a little more intentional about how I start my day. These moments are clutch now more than ever so daily (even weekends) I have to make sure that my spirit and head is in a space to listen and move accordingly.🙏🏾 . . . 👩🏾‍💻 #clickthelinkinmybio and tap the top box to head over to the site to see three small changes I’m making to set my morning and spirit in the right direction! 🌿• • • #MorningMotivation #BlackGirlMagic #PhenomenalWoman #CarefreeBlackGirls #BlackGirlsRock #BlackExcellence #BlackBeauty #MyBlackIsBeautiful #FemaleWriters #SheWrites #MotivationalSpeaker #BlackWriter #Storyteller #BlackWritersOfInstagram #WhatSheSaid #SheInspires #BlackWomenMatter #Melanin #Sisterhood #Tribe #SelfLove #WomenSupportWomen #VibrateHigher #BlackWomen #blackcopywriter #blackcopywriters

Because I see a few new faces, I figured I’d share a quick get to know me post.. • My name is Tiondra and I have 5 babies ranging from 10 to just 5 months. Two boys, 3 girls. Three singles and a set of twins. Pray for me y’all 😩😅 • I like sunsets and long walks on the beach. Not really, more like I like throw pillows, podcasts and Starbucks 😋 • I’m annoyed by loud chewing and gum on the ground 🙈 • I’m a Christian who sometimes says bad words 🤐🙃 #fightme • I share online in hopes of spreading love and laughter. • Tell me something about you! Favorite food? Favorite book? Hobby? I wanna read all about it in the comment section below! 📸 @hikierrahenderson @heybelovedmama

It’s #MentalHealthAwarenessDay That girl that you see that’s always full of jokes and have a larger than life personality, battles #depression and #anxiety, daily. And that’s ok! There are days where I feel unstoppable, and there are days where I fight to pull myself out of bed to do basic things. There are times where I’m up for days on end, and times were I quite literally hibernate. I’m learning, I’m navigating, I’m adjusting. I am neither embarrassed nor ashamed, and you shouldn’t be either. Everyone who has a mental health disease or illness battles or differently. • • • • You are not a burden. You are loved. You are valued. You are needed. Asking for #help is ok. Taking meds is ok. Going to #therapy is ok. Whatever you need to do to be the best version of yourself, for yourself is ok. • • • • #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealth #CheckOnYourStrongFriends #TalkAboutIt
