If your business had a theme song, what would it be and why?

I love music so much that it’s hard to break it down to just one. But if I had to pick just one song, I would say Take Up Space Sis by Toni Jones. This song is a reminder to keep going, keep being you, and take up space!

Describe your brand in three emojis. Go!

How do you stay motivated and innovative in your business?

I stay motivated by reconfiguring my social media algorithm to consistently show affirmations. This is what I see mostly in my feeds are inspirational videos, mantras, affirmations, words of encouragement. All I have to do is bring my IG up and there are a plethora of thought provoking videos that keep me going personally and to share to my community and followers. I get so many “thank you sis” or “I needed this” DMs that I know I am not only being motivated myself but also letting others know they are not alone. We can have this same energy and encouragement together!

To keep innovating, I read, I research, and I stay on top of industry trends. There is so much information being shared every second and this brings forth new ideas and new concepts. If it applies to my business or I can see a benefit with it, I try to implement it. That’s what keeps my creative juices flowing.

How do you handle competition, and what sets your business apart from others in your field?

For one, I removed the mindset of competition from my thought process because for me personally, that can cause anxiety and stress of constantly thinking you are not good enough. No! There is room for everyone which is why we have so many options. I am different, I am authentic, I am me, period. That is my strength, my rawness, my ability to break down the complexity into relatable content. No one sounds like me, no one can be me, and that is what sets me apart. We all can eat and share and be ourselves.

Can you discuss any partnerships or collaborations that have particularly impacted your business?

For my sustainable fashion business, I have partnered with other sustainable organizations such as EcoCart and Greenspark to help with my sustainability goals. Their goals are my goals and that is the key to any partnership, that you are all aligned with the same purpose. It is wonderful because they are in the sustainability space that I have no clue how to do, and I am in my space where I can share and contribute and push their message forward. We work together for an outstanding cause, to save the world! So it’s a win-win and I am so proud to be connected with them.

For my project management consulting, authorship, and speaking business, I collaborate with amazing communities in this space such as WomenofPM, PMI, Cohort Sistas, and many others. We are all about building community and sharing resources which is a beautiful thing and we are all grateful for each other’s contribution, supporting each other in ways you cannot imagine, and it’s just a blessing to be part of them.

If your business could have its reality show, what would it be called, and what would it be about?

Oh yes I love this question! It would be the same as the title of my book “Unleash Your Inner Bad Bitch” haha. Because life is rough, business ownership is rough, being a career mom is ROUGH. It will be about managing it all, pushing through the rough times, enjoying the good and the bad, plenty of drama between work and parenting. Navigating the corporate environment, being a bad ass bitch at all times! Giving women the courage to take risks, take leaps, be themselves and just be an empowerment, real life, relatable whirlwind of loving all things we go through in life.

What’s one piece of advice you wish you could give your younger self before starting this journey?

Start off college with a business degree and use everything they teach you to develop your actual business first! Get your PMP certification, find your business partners early, and dream bigger than you can ever imagine. There are no limits to what you can do. Take those international leaps EARLY! Live abroad EARLY and absorb as much information as you can. You got this.

If you could have dinner with any entrepreneur (alive or dead), who would it be, and what would be the first question you’d ask them?

Melissa Butler, the founder of The Lip Bar. First of all her products are the absolute best, I am totally addicted to them so after swooning and giving her all the flowers, my first question would be, “what was the fuel that ignited your fire to be the baddie you are today?” I want to learn what obstacles if any she faced being who she is because we know how real it can get.
