5 Tips On Protecting Your Heart Health – Written by Kelli Abernathy
Miss Black USA is using it’s voice to close the gap in health disparities. We know that if we can reach women at a younger age, we can help prevent heart disease later in life. Heart disease can be prevented by living a healthy lifestyle. Here are a few tips for a healthy heart.
Physical Activity
Get regular exercise. To ensure my heart stays healthy, I focus on movement. I usually start my day with a nice morning jog around the park to clear my head from all the negativity around me followed by a healthy brunch.
Manage Stress with Prayer & Affirmations
I recommend downloading the Affirmations Board app and read them daily. And, always speak light and
positivity into your life
Girl Squad
Humans need support. It doesn’t matter who you are, you need support. Oprah has Gayle. Beyonce has Solange. You have me. Surround yourself with positive people who will elevate and lift you higher.
Laugh
As cliche as it may sound, laughter is good medicine. Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter also decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. During these uncertain and stressful times, we can all use more laughter in our lives.
Be a part of something greater than yourself.
Being involved in an activity or cause that you are passionate about will boost your mood. And when you feel good, you tend to be more active. Just ask my sister queens at Miss Black USA. It’s a movement and I’m honored to be a part of it. Follow us at www.missblackusa.org.
