The global pandemic has caused almost everyone to face unpreceded times. Not only are we having to find a “new normal” regarding work, school and simply, life in general. We are struggling to find balance within our various personal relationships with friends, family and loved ones.
Dr. Rhonda Travitt has shared five tips on how to maintain intimate relationships during this global pandemic.
People Need Space
Quite often our minds shift to all the people we don’t see during social distancing. We don’t often consider the ones we see everyday. It is Dr. Travitt’s recommendation that we give people space. “All of a sudden, a group of people are forced to be around each other for extended amounts of time, days and weeks on end, that can be a huge adjustment for some,” stated Dr. Travitt.
Mental Health
Mental health is something we can take for granted. Dr. Travitt suggests meditation and prayer before interacting with anyone.
Emotional Balance
Dr. Travitt’s attributes the ability to quickly forgive and let things go to maintaining peace in the home.
Open Door Policy
Having an open door policy can give people the freedom to speak their hearts and minds. Dr. Travitt suggests the freedom of having open dialogue. This allows for everyone to express where they are emotionally and mentally, including the children, without judgement.
Learning To Adapt
Day to day routines have shifted dramatically. Dr. Travitt suggests learning to adapt to the transition so that everyone is getting the love and care they need. One example is date night. Although dining out may not be an option, Dr. Travitt suggests getting dressed up and having a date night at home.
