Women In Hospitality: Carolyn Butiste A Leader In Sales

Women’s History Month Feature

PaSH Magazine is celebrating Women’s History Month with a Q&A style mini-series highlighting women from many different industries making an impact in the world, their communities and for themselves. In this Q&A we will spend time with Carolyn Butiste.

Meet Carolyn Butiste

Born in South Bend, Indiana, Bustite is a 20-year hospitality veteran who prides herself on building connections with visitors and her team while thinking analytically about revenue, positioning and market opportunity. In her position, she manages two unique hotel properties – La Concha Key West, Autograph Collection and Pier House Resort & Spa – where she embraces the uniqueness between each hotel and challenges herself to think several steps ahead.

What is your title?

Area Sales Manager (Pier House Resort & Spa / La Concha Key West).

Where are you from originally?

South Bend, Indiana – Go Irish!

How long have you worked in the hospitality industry?

Since 2006, 20 Years

What is your favorite part about your position?

My favorite part about my role is the dynamic nature of managing twp properties across different

group segments. I thrive in the competitive environment and enjoy strategically positioning each hotel

to capture the right business at the right time. The fluidity between properties keeps me agile, engaged

and constantly thinking several steps ahead.

Why did you want to work in this field?

I was drawn to this field because it blends relationship-building, strategy, and measurable results.

Hospitality sales allows me to connect with people while also thinking analytically about revenue,

positioning, and market opportunity. It’s a unique combination of people and performance that really

energizes me.

What advice would you give to an aspiring female hospitality leader?

My advice would be to own your voice early. Speak with confidence, trust your instincts and take notes!

Advocate for your wins, don’t hesitate to step into opportunities that feel slightly outside your comfort

zone. Wear comfortable shoes. Have a strong handshake.

What does “Women’s History Month” mean to you, and why do you think it’s important to celebrate it?

Women’s History Month is a reminder of how far we’ve come and how important it is to continue

supporting, recognizing and elevating women in male dominated industries.

If you could have dinner with any hospitality leader in the world, past or present, who would it be and why?

Hands down, Anthony Bourdain! His unique, global perspective on hospitality continues to influence

how I think about creating meaningful experiences for clients. He reminded the world that hospitality is

ultimately about connection, culture and storytelling – not just service.
