Meet Yamile Gablin

Immigrating from Cuba, Yamile Gablin came to the United States with a dream of creating a better life for herself and her two young daughters. After searching for work, she found a home at Morimoto Asia, where she discovered her passion for cooking and developed a love for her Disney Springs family as a Prep Cook. This Women’s History Month, she encourages female chefs to follow their dreams because it can lead you to a place where they come true. 

What’s your favorite menu item at the unit you support?

Morimoto Asia’s signature dishes are some of my personal favorites. The Peking Duck is carefully roasted to achieve perfectly crisp skin and tender, flavorful meat. The Sticky Ribs are slow-cooked and glazed until they’re rich, glossy, and packed with bold flavor. And the Buri Bop is beautifully balanced — fresh, vibrant, and comforting all at once.

What’s something you have learned from a woman that elevates your work?

Working at Morimoto Asia, I am surrounded by powerful women in the kitchen who teach me the meaning of patience, teamwork and the importance of delivering exceptional guest service. 

What motivated you to get into hospitality?

When I moved here from Cuba, I was looking for a position where I could financially support my family while also pursuing my passion for cooking. When I came across this role at Morimoto Asia, I knew hospitality was something that I wanted to pursue. 

Who is a woman you admire?

It’s hard to pick just one woman as I admire so many women. Women are powerful! We work hard, have big careers, raise kids, have dreams and ambition. Nobody knows how to juggle and multitask so many things more than women. I also love when I see other women in the kitchen! 

What’s one action—big or small—passed down from a woman that you use in your role today?

I would say that patience is something I have taken with me in my career. To be successful in this role, patience is crucial to kitchen operations and creating a space that is enjoyable for guests. The women who I work with at Morimoto Asia have taught me the importance of being patient even when a task is challenging. 

What’s one piece of advice you’d give women entering the hospitality industry?

I would encourage emerging female chefs to follow their dreams because it can lead to fulfilling results like it did for me.
