This is an exciting addition to our mini series highlighting women entrepreneurs. This mini series has fun Q & A interview style questions to get to know the brands and the founders of these amazing businesses. This Q&A will be a three part series, so buckle up and get cozy.

Meet Kaer

At Kaer, we believe that self-kaer is more than just a routine, it’s a ritual of self-love. Founded by Fatima, kaer is a fragrance and body care brand designed to help you feel confident, luxurious, and radiant every day. Our carefully crafted products include perfume oils, scented dry body oils, and vibrant African exfoliating net sponges, all aimed at enhancing your beauty and wellness journey.

With a focus on quality ingredients and captivating scents, kaer offers products that nourish your skin, elevate your self-kaer routine, and indulge your senses. Whether you’re embracing the elegance of florals, the warmth of gourmand notes, or the freshness of fruity blends, we have a scent for every mood.

kaer—because self-kaer is how we show love to ourselves.

Can you introduce Kaer and share the inspiration behind creating a self-care brand centered on ritual and self-love?

My name is Fatima Muhammed, and I’m the founder of Kaer. The inspiration behind Kaer came from the intersection of my love for fragrance, business, and travel. I’ve always been fascinated by how scent can transport you, ground you, and completely shift how you feel in a moment. I wanted to create a brand that felt intentional and thoughtful, one that encouraged people to slow down and turn everyday routines into meaningful rituals. Kaer was born from that desire to merge luxury, care, and presence into products people reach for daily.

What was the moment you decided to turn your idea into a business, and what gave you the confidence to launch?

The moment the idea came to me, I acted on it almost immediately. I’ve always believed that ideas are powerful, but they’re also fleeting. I once saw a quote about Michael Jackson saying that when he gets an idea for a song, he works on it immediately before someone else brings it into the world. That mindset really stayed with me.

I thought to myself, “What’s stopping me?” And the answer was nothing but fear. I decided not to let that stop me. I worked through the anxiety, the uncertainty, and the stress, and I’m so grateful I did. Kaer could have easily become someone else’s idea, and now it’s a company I’ve poured so much love, intention, and hard work into. Seeing it grow day by day and be embraced by our community has been incredibly rewarding.

How do quality ingredients and scent play into the emotional experience you want users to have with Kaer?

Quality ingredients were non-negotiable from the very beginning. These are products that people are applying directly to their bodies, so trust is everything. I was very intentional about choosing manufacturers who could deliver high-quality ingredients without compromise.

Scent then becomes the emotional layer on top of that trust. I want people to feel comforted, confident, and grounded when they use Kaer. The combination of quality formulation and thoughtfully developed scents creates an experience that feels luxurious, safe, and emotionally resonant. It’s about how the product makes you feel, not just how it smells.

What advice would you give to other Black women who are thinking about launching their own brand in the beauty or wellness space?

Do your research, build your brand strategy, and know who you’re selling to, but don’t get stuck there. Execution matters just as much as planning. Act on your vision.

Don’t be afraid to reach out to people who are already doing what you want to do. Many will respond, and those conversations can be incredibly valuable. Most importantly, tell your story and build community. Create an ecosystem where creators, consumers, and you as the founder all support one another. When you nurture that ecosystem, it sustains itself.

What’s next for Kaer: new products, collaborations, or expansions you’re excited about?

I’m incredibly excited about an upcoming fragrance collaboration with Alexis (Awilkyy) that’s set to launch in 2026. It’s been such a meaningful creative process.

Looking ahead, I’m also exploring new product categories like body butters, but only when I’m absolutely in love with the formulation. I’m never rushing releases. I’m also planning to introduce new fragrances next year, which I’m really looking forward to.
